Factory Floor (2019)

Factory Floor is a piece for 4 speakers encased in stainless steel tubes. This piece uses low frequency drones which are slightly detuned to created slowly beating patterns of sound that change as one walk around the piece. The title refers to the nature of the industrial drones and their ever present occupancy of manufacturing spaces, but also of the manufactured nature of the speakers, the stainless steel tubes, etc. - all which are being used in ways not really intended by their industrial producers. This piece was premiered in an exhibition at the Galerie Kornfeld in Berlin as part of a show curated by Jan Tichy titled Bauhaus - a show which connected the history of the Bauhaus in Chicago with the German Bauhaus movement.
